Rural Tourists Smell Their Own Roses, Win-Win Ahead
There is an old bromide that says 'life begins when you find what you have, not what you don't have...' With high gas prices and inflating prices for everything the greed of the world lands on our lifestyles. It's time to change, and subjects like "agri-tourism" are now on front pages of your travel and liesure sections. Opportunity comes for both rural areas and more urbanized patrons as well. With ticket and pass prices getting to crazy levels, try some good cheap fun, on a farm, at a rural fair, in smaller towns that each have some great history, and a few undiscovered things that beat your memory of a vacation. Day trips are back in vogue, and low cost hotels are being built to dense levels. The "over $100" hotels are becoming extinct, and we'll more likely consult the Internet than a travel agent today. More and more "tourism" is developing near home. Start looking at what you can do to help make it happen. Go on a few junkets you may have never considered inside the magic 100 mile circle of the day trip, and you will be shocked by the fun of it.

AIRLINE MELTDOWN-- Airlines are on the rocks. Old "pack 'em and whack 'em" consolidators are getting some new orders, and airlines are plain struggling o understand why Southwest makes money? They ordered wrong aircraft, and kept arrogant practices in place past usefulness. Now the airplanes are in mothballs and everyone wants a merger partner. When did twice as many losses become a model? When you lose money by the mile, flying more miles won't cure your airline. We've all had "hub drubbing" for 30 years, forced to hop out of the way to a hub, fly back over your home, to suit airline because they saw UPS and Fedex do it. By bloating up facilities in a hub they were able to grab giant subsidies from a Metroplex, and force price-competition out by dominating convenience and access, and most of the gates.
