News About Automotive Industry Offers & Changes
Our new decade "twenty eleven" is seeing many car deals again, but lease money is returning to the market with pace-setting deals. Honda and Hyundai are among a dozen with a US wide promotion at 199, and perhaps not equaled in past. Chevy has Malibu running neck at same monthly price, and Ford keeps it's world-class lineup at or above for 2011. This company has outpaced the others in their effort to build a new future, but amazingly Chrysler and GM have rebuilt from ground up, both business and products. While Japan reels under recovery from Tsunami related after effects, both nuclear and death toll drags on, their motor related industry is beginning to rebound. Ford had a massive recall of 1.2 million light trucks, and Toyota keeps getting hammered with recalls, still the industry around the world shows strength. Perhaps the economic woes of the world are reflected in the truck and car industries, as well as recovery.

OPINION--Everyone has a stake in this business, even globally. We are all now beginning to cope with the fact that energy, fuels, efficiency and employment are closely linked to each other. America can't continue to gulp more than a quarter of those resources selfishly, with only about 5% of the people. Nobody is forever entitled to five times their "weight" in world populous against consumption before the equation bites us. We now realize it will take a force larger than "politics" of oil to change this lopsided equation. If T. Boone Pickens has his way we may have a start this year on changing it, with his "Natural Gas for heavy hauling..." plan. Reminds us of the other famous "Pickens" when Slim Pickens rode the A-Bomb in the famous Dr. Strangelove movie. In some ways the metaphor works, and we know from last weeks' interviews T. Boone thinks we're riding this "oil bomb" to destruction if we don't wake up...
